Work in Industry

Every job has taught me something new by giving me chances to solve problems, work with others, and learn new technologies.

ExxonMobil

May 2005 - August 2005, June 2006 - August 2011
Houston, Texas
I interned with ExxonMobil the year before I graduated from BYU. During my internship, I was impressed by the caliber of people working with ExxonMobil and the size of the problems they were solving. During my internship, I helped to revamp and deliver project management training.

When I joined ExxonMobil after graduation, I supported the headquarters financial systems, developed software, and engineered knowledge management services. My curiosity about the way people work with technology led to my decision to return to academia to pursue a PhD in Information Systems.

Zions Bank

May 2004 - February 2005
Salt Lake City, Utah
Zions Bank was my first internship. I was part of the Intranet development team. Despite my inexperience coming into the job, I quickly became the goto person for technical questions. I continue to enjoy developing websites for both research and personal interests. Unfortunately, I continue to be a terrible graphic designer.
